7 Golden Rules to RESPECT.

1.     Keep “your” ears & eyes open listening & watching English radio & TV programmes on a daily basis.

2.     Read a paragraph from a newspaper, magazine or book & create “your” own simple but correct sentences.

3.     Listen, Speak, Read, Write & Repeat till it becomes a regular habit for “you”.

4.     Try to make “your” mirror “your” best friend. Speak to it in English. Describe yourself, explain “your” weak & strong points, tell it a simple, short story. Ask it questions ( Does he..? Yes, he does.. No, he doesn’t…)

5.     Learn new verbs & prepositional structures every day and use them immediately in a context to feel confident about its usage especially when “you” speak to your mirror or you talk to “your” friends.

6.     Keep calm & do not worry that much about grammar & syntax. Do not try to translate from your mother tongue. It will make “you” feel confident about the way “you” speak.

7.     Practice, practice till it makes “you” perfect & “you” start with believing in “yourself” that “you” can make it.

Σαν να’ταν χθες…

Το σχολείο Lord Byron πλησιάζει τα 33 χρόνια ζωής.

Τι να πρωτοθυμηθώ μετά από τόσα πολλά χρόνια…

Καλύτερα να μιλήσουν οι παλιοί μας μαθητές που μεγάλωσαν πια. Μερικοί από αυτούς είναι ακόμη κοντά μας, σαν συνεργάτες πλέον, να μιλήσουν για την εμπειρία τους, για τα τόσα χρόνια που έζησαν και ακόμη ζουν μαζί μας.

Σκέπτομαι όλους αυτούς που είναι χιλιάδες, τους μαθητές,  τους σπουδαστές, τους φοιτητές, τους επιστήμονες μας, που πέρασαν για μια στιγμή της ζωής τους το κατώφλι του σχολείου μας γεμάτοι δίψα για μάθηση.

Κάναμε ότι καλύτερο μπορούσαμε για όλους αυτούς, μοιραστήκαμε μαζί τους το μεράκι μας και την αγάπη για συτό που κάνουμε.

Σήμερα πια, άλλοι εγκατεστημένοι στη αγαπημένη Θεσσαλονίκη, άλλοι σκορπισμένοι στον τόπο που γεννήθηκαν, σε όλη την Ελλάδα, αρκετοί στη Ευρώπη και τον υπόλοιπο γνωστό κόσμο, φτασμένοι επιστήμονες, πετυχημέρνοι Ακαδημαϊκοί δάσκαλοι, άριστοι επαγγελματίες, πολλά υποσχόμενοι τίμιοι πολιτικοί.

Μαθαίνουμε νέα τους, τους βλέπουμε κάπου – κάπου, ακούμε καλά λόγια για αυτά που έχουν πετύχει και χαιρόμαστε, είμαστε περήφανοι για αυτούς όπως και οι δικοί τους, η οικογένεια τους, για τη σοβαρή δουλειά που κάναμε μαζί τους τότε. Για όλα τα θετικά εφόδια που τους δώσαμε και για την ξένη γλώσσα που τους διδάξαμε, αλλά και για την ίδια τη ζωή τους, το ότι συμμετείχαμε έστω και για λίγο στην κατοπινή επιτυχία τους και τη θετική τους εξέλιξη στην συνεχώς εξελισσόμενη κοινωνία που ζούμε.

Σήμερα, κοντεύουμε πια το τέταρο του 21ου αιώνα, η νεά γενιά είναι εδώ, πάλι μαζί μας, τα παιδιά των μαθητών μας, γεμάτα ελπίδες, δροσερά χαμόγελα και δυναμικές φιλοδοξίες είναι κοντά μας.

Εμείς συνεχίζουμε αθόρυβα το έργο μας, με την ίδια σοβαρότητα, την ίδια λαχτάρα για τη πρόοδο και την επιτυχία τους, σαν να μην άλλαξε τίποτα, σαν να μην πέρασε μια στιγμή. Εξ άλλου νιώθουμε υποχρεωμένοι να κάνουμε το σωστό γιατί αυτό μάθαμε, αυτό ξέρουμε και αυτό κάνουμε όλα αυτά τα χρόνια με μεγάλη επιτυχία.

Η ζωή συνεχίζεται, είνα δύσκολη, αλλά εμείς μάθαμε πολύ νωρίς στην ζωή μας να είμαστε μαχητές και νικητές. Ετσι και αλλιώς αυτό που μετράει δεν είναι μόνο η διαδρομή μας, αλλά και το θετικό αποτέλεσμα.

The GMAT ( Graduate Management Admission Test ) is a standardized test which aims to predict your academic performance as an MBA (Masters in Business Administration) student.

The GMAT test score is an important part of the business school application process and is taken into consideration along with your work experience, academic record and other supporting materials. The GMAT is developed by GMAC ( Graduate Management Admission Council ) which decides the skillset the GMAT test should measure and how. The GMAT’s score is used by over 2,100 universities and institutions in the U.S. and other countries.

The GMAT structure The GMAT is a multiple-choice, adaptive (CAT-Computer Adaptive Test) test that actually adapts to your performance as you’re taking it. As you answer questions correctly, the computer serves up harder questions and increases its estimate of your ability and vice versa. The GMAT test is taken only on a computer in selected locations and takes about 3.5 hours including breaks. There are four main skills the GMAT measures: analytical writing assessment, quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning and integrated reasoning. These skills come to action in four sections on the test, and the test taker will have the option to choose the order in which they take the exam. Each section gets a separate scaled score: Analytical Writing Assessment section is scored from 0 to 6 scale. Integrated Reasoning section is scored on 1–8 scale. Quantitative and Verbal sections each have a scaled score of 0–60. The three scores listed above are then combined to generate a score between 200–800. The GMAT final score reflects the level of difficulty of the questions the test taker answered correctly using a proprietary GMAC algorithm. How much does it cost?

Taking the GMAT will cost you $250, which includes sending your score reports to up to five colleges/universities, and can be taken up to five times a year. GMAT scores are valid for up to five years. So, it’s important to choose the right time to take the exam and of course, the best prep course there is for you. This can eliminate the need to take the test in the future.

The GRE ( Graduate Record Examination ) is a standardized test which aims to predict your academic performance in graduate school or business school.

Everyone who interested in pursuing a master’s, MBA, specialized master’s in business or doctoral degree needs to take the GRE test. The GRE test score is an important part of the graduate school and business school application process and it is taken into consideration along with your work experience, academic record, and supporting materials.

The GRE is owned and administered by Educational Testing Service ( ETS ) who created it in 1949. The GRE taking place in about 1,000 test centers in more than 160 countries. The GRE structure The GRE is a multiple-choice taken mostly on a computer in selected locations. The test’s question types closely reflect the skills and the way of thinking you’ll need as a graduate and business school student.

Contrary to other standardized tests, in the GRE test you get the option to skip questions within a section, go back and change answers if you need and even have the flexibility to choose which questions within a section you want to answer first. The GRE has five sections: Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Unscored ( may be either Verbal Reasoning or Quantitative Reasoning ) and Research ( used for ETS research purposes ). The first three sections aim to measures skills you must have if you want to succeed as a Graduate school and business school student. Each section gets a separate scaled score: The Verbal Reasoning section is scored on 130 to 170 scale. The Quantitative Reasoning section is scored on 130–170 scale. The Analytical Writing section is scored on 0–6 scale.

How much does it cost and when it offered?

Taking a GRE test will cost you $205 and includes sending your score reports to up to four schools. The GRE can be taken once every 21 days, up to five times within any continuous rolling 12-month period ( 365 days ). GRE score is valid for five years. So, it’s very important to choose the right time for you to take the GRE and of course, choosing the right prep course there is for you, so you don’t have to take the test once again.
